TL;DR: Base Builder Quest, the first onchain challenge on Base, is now live! Deploy a smart contract on Base to earn a non-transferable, commemorative NFT on Base testnet, designed by Andre Oshea, a digital artist who makes art for those building the future.
Last month, we launched Base testnet to empower builders everywhere. Base is an Ethereum L2 that offers developers an easy, secure way to build dapps for the next billion onchain users.
We’re working towards something big – bringing the next billion people onchain. We can only do that if more builders are in on the action. The commemorative NFT designed by Andre Oshea inspires builders to look at the future and stretch their imagination to more possibilities.
Come build with us. Complete the quest, become an early builder, and earn a commemorative NFT. Get started at quests.base.org
This quest will walk you through deploying a smart contract on Base in a few easy steps. You will need a self-custodial wallet funded with testnet ETH to complete the Quest. (You can get testnet ETH from Coinbase Wallet or an alternative faucet.)
How it works:
Connect your Wallet
Deploy your smart contract on the Base testnet
Mint your commemorative Builder NFT designed by Andrea Oshea on Base testnet
You will be eligible to mint a second commemorative NFT following the transition to Base mainnet. Learn more and get started at quests.base.org.
To embody the builder spirit, the NFTs are designed by Andre Oshea, a digital 3D artist who makes art for those “who want to build the future.”
Andre has explored different mediums of art throughout his career, from music production to digital 3D art. He’s been active in the NFT space since 2021 and collaborated with brands like Christie’s, Netflix, and the Grammys.
“As a digital artist in Web3, I have built my career on the Internet and on blockchain,” said Andre about the collaboration with Base. “The ability to express my artistic vision wouldn’t be possible without the builders pushing technology forward. Base, the new L2 incubated by Coinbase, empowers developers to continue building, which in turn empowers creators like myself to continue developing beautiful and financially sustainable careers. I’m honored to be part of this project.”
We couldn’t be more excited to work with Andre to celebrate the early builders of Base. Andre’s art explores new worlds and realities, and inspires people to think about the possibilities of the future – the type of curiosity and inspiration that we’re hoping to spark in the Base community.
